On the last Friday of October Mustakillah Sound brings the most unique
and outstanding musical event this autumn to Cross
Club, an event riding up out of the frames of consumerist
mass culture.
On two stages, artists of diverse genres will introduce themselves,
who at one time in one place uniquely bring together and join simultaneously
functioning subcultures. The ILLUMINATION night joins together representatives
of both original and contemporary radical electronica. You will encounter
styles like ambient, dub, industrial, electro, experimental electronica,
grime & dubstep, breakcore, as well as many other unclassifiable
ones.
Performing a Live PA on the main stage the dark demon and sound
wizard Mick Harris will rise
up from the sonic depths with his cult project
SCORN. His low frequencies and pulsating abstract collages will
penetrate all demanding listeners and will lead them through into
fulfilling industrial catharsis. In a similar way a project apart
from the impure conscience of this world is the subversive project
operating under the surface of Prague's metropolis, - AUTOPSIA meets
ACHTAR. Arising above the surface this coalition of legendary, known
worldwide but still mysterious project AUTOPSIA,
together with the dark silhouette of Achtar operating in Žižkov's
Mustakillah studio, is going to bring into the area suspense and relief,
hope and ruin, eclectic divisions and cultural defragmentation. The
performance will exclusively feature a special guest from Japan, the
singer of the familiarly acclaimed band
Papaya Paranoia, YUMIKO ISHIJIMA. Another artist who will present
himself at his first performance in Prague is noteworthy Belgian
POLADROID, the founder of
Roulette Rekordz and the person who resurrects thirty year old
protosynthetic recordings of Russian avant-garde ensembles and dresses
them up in in experimental electro both in present-day circumstances
and future contexts With his laptop DJ set following locally renowned
STORMFIELD from UK label
Combat Recordings label brings the main stage to a close, he will
bring his usual coloured pallette of sounds, noises and polyrhtythms,
which he ably inserts into uncompromising breakbeats and strongly
distorted lo-fi electro. All of this will be supported by the obscure
visualisation rendered by MOIRE.
On the second DJ stage selectors from various corners of the
musical spectrum will piece together a collage of all sorts of
experimental electronica. Membranes will be shaken by the devotees
of
sirens and dub-echo Nattynational
Soundz, the electro-dub princess Deus
Ex Machina, the rampaging shimmer of The Shaft Link, the komplexed
messiah RaveBoy and also the multi-polarised
Yukimura.
The upper bar is going to offer the exhibition of graphic works
from the authorial craft room of AUTOPSIA from the period 1980-1985
together with the projection of documentaries and a Peter
Greenaway`s film ''The Pillow Book'' .
This evening shall also be one of many events refering to the long-time
oppression
of alternative culture - either by economical tools or by the
increasingly escalated violence of state repression- creeping out
further from the west to east like an infection in the appearance
of new laws and pro-conformist social codes. The crushing hit of state
authority against this year's CzechTek
2005 festival was the proof. The circulation of counterfeit prophets
and the desire for rule and dominance is never-ending, though it's
important to use all technologies necessary for shedding light on
this.
